What do you do at Thomson?
I’m responsible for all work winning services; bidding, sales operations, service development and marketing support. Making sure that we offer our existing and future customers compelling reasons to work with us.
Why do you like working at Thomson?
I like the fact that we get things done quickly. Decisions are taken and rapidly acted upon. This is embedded in our corporate DNA and long may it continue
What does a typical day at work look like?
No two days are the same. At least 50% of the time my expected schedule changes due to receiving an urgent customer requirement. Generally, I spend my days juggling a number of live bids, longer term strategy and business development activities, and operational / team development commitments
What made you choose this career path?
It wasn’t a single thing. Over a period of years I came to the conclusion that work winning enabled me to do a lot of the things that I like, and am good at. It brings together project management, sales, operational forecasting and problem solving. I had done each of these as specific roles but without the same satisfaction as I get from a winning bid.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I’m a keen road cyclist, walker and am still playing football on Sunday mornings
