Catchment Management

We support you in the development and implementation of a catchment approach to water quality and flood defence.

We support you in the development and implementation of a catchment approach to water quality and flood defence.

Catchment-based approaches are now considered key to tackling flooding linked to climate change.  Nature-based solutions, such as wetland habitat creation and low intensity agriculture, are effective methods for slowing run-off into rivers following intense rainfall and avoiding pollution caused by soil erosion.

What we do

With our multi-disciplinary offering covering hydrology, ecology, mapping and GIS, and habitat management, we can offer a one-stop shop for clients seeking catchment scale approaches, whether in the context of development or nature conservation.

Our approach begins with mapping existing land uses, water and habitat features which contribute to the hydrology of the catchment.  We have implemented this approach on a number of projects including for the Knepp Estate re-wilding project.  Our team is experienced in designing monitoring programmes for assessing loads and sources of contaminants from basic nutrients through to pesticides and more exotic contaminants, as well as the threat from both terrestrial and aquatic invasive species.
