Thomson’s involvement as part of the delivery team was key to producing an end product that both looked great but that also met with the design criteria, ensuring the scheme will continue to perform into the future.

The maps we produced for this project were used in the SDNP Local Plan and their team continues to utilise both the maps and tools we created to inform important ecological decisions across the South Downs National Park.

Confidently identifying non-native species from aerial imagery proved challenging but through the combined ecological and aerial image interpretation experience of our GIS team we were able to identify and map the distribution of six non-native species with an area of 23 km2.

It was interesting to see how coastal habitats along the southwest coast have changed over time. This highlights how important measuring change is for such dynamic habitats.
