Ailsa Singleton

GIS Team Lead

What do you do at Thomson?

I manage the GIS team at Thomson. Focussing on supporting all team members and ensuring mapping is delivered on time and to the highest standard.  In May 2022 I will have worked here for 10 years.

Why do you like working at Thomson?

I enjoy the wide variety of work Thomson is exposed to; no project is the same. With my experience and degree, I feel I am using this knowledge to help best protect and preserve the environment with our ever-evolving planet. I also love the people that work for Thomson.

What does a typical day at work look like?

Firstly, check in with the team, ensuring they are ok and seeing if they need help with their workload. This is followed by checking our planner board and QA’ing report maps that have been drafted by the team to ensure we are keeping up with high standards of mapping for all projects.

Every day I check for opportunities for future GIS work, searching for new and exciting tenders that require an element of GIS.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Gardening with my children, walking the dog and furniture upcycling!

Do you have any pets?

Yes, a red fox Labrador named Penny
