Leanne completes the London Marathon!

Ecologist, Leanne Wall ran the London Marathon on Sunday 13th April, to raise money for the YMCA.

Leanne has been building up to the big day for some months now, not just with serious training, but with fundraising efforts involving all at Thomson Ecology.

Here are a few words from Leanne about her London Marathon experience:

“I finished the marathon in five hours and 17mins, missing my target time by quite a way. My pace was spot on for a four hours 45 minutes finish until mile 15 after which I started to slow down. I hit the ‘wall’ at around mile 18 but managed to just about get going again. However, as it was my first marathon, it is still a personal best!

Three friends and my boyfriend waited to see me at eight different locations around the course, and knowing I would see them really kept me going! In the, what felt like, huge distances in between, I tried to think about the YMCA and why I was running which helped to keep me motivated.

I met up with the YMCA afterwards and went to the after party where I had a fantastic massage which really helped me to get home!

It was fantastic to see the sights of London and to soak in the atmosphere at this amazing event. And, although I’m still in a lot of pain…I’m already thinking about entering the ballot for next year, now that I have a time to beat! I have almost reached my fundraising goal of £1500 but still need a few more donations…”
