Senior delegation of the Irish Planning Board (An Bord Pleanála) visit UK ports.

Thomson Unicomarine’s Daniel Bastreri attended a visit to the London Gateway, Harwich and Felixstowe ports organised by the An Bord Pleanála, in his role as their consultant on a port development in Ireland.

During the visit, which took place between the 10th and 11th of March, they discussed issues related to meeting the requirements of the EU Habitats and Birds Directives. The delegation was received by Marcus Pearson, Environment Manager of the London Gateway, John Brien, Harbour Engineer at Harwich Haven Authority, and Jane Stanbridge, Senior Planner at Hutchinson Ports (Felixstowe).

An Bord Pleanála are gathering information on the application of specific details of the Birds and Habitats Directives and their application in the UK and the EU to inform their regulatory decisions on port developments in Ireland.
