We have been working with our client, Dawnus Construction, on a great crested newt (GCN) trapping programme on a site in Northamptonshire.
The site, near Corby, is soon to be developed into a wind farm, involving the installation of seven wind turbines.
We have installed temporary amphibian fencing to assist in trapping the site’s population of GCNs. We will return to site in March to install semi-permanent amphibian fence on another area of the site which is to be used as the GCN receptor area – to accommodate the trapped newts while works are going on. This part of the site has a pre-existing pond, which is ideal newt habitat.
