Badger Sett Closure, Greater Manchester

We have recently helped in closing a large badger sett in Greater Manchester. The badger sett was causing potential damage to the client’s compound area.

Under licence and an ecological watching brief, we cleared a 750m2 area of scrub to facilitate the exclusion, then installed 5 one-way badger gates within the compound area. To prevent the badgers from re-entering the sett, stakes and wire mesh were installed which covered a 45m2 area, much of which was concrete hardstanding. A further 11 badger gates and 760m2 of badger netting was then installed, much of which was on a steep slope.
