Thomson Ecology’s technical director collates data for the UK bird Atlas

Richard Arnold organised and undertook surveys and managed data in the South London region for the Bird Atlas 2007-2011, published by BTO Books this month.

The atlas is the result of collaboration between the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), Birdwatch Ireland and Scottish Ornithologists Club (SCO).

This is the fourth edition of the atlas since its inception in 1968. The latest edition is based on more data than ever before. The atlas contains maps of the distribution and levels of abundance of all the bird species found regularly in the UK.
