Thomson Unicomarine sponsoring Coastal Futures 2016

Daniel Bastreri, our Principal Marine Consultant, will be chairing one of the sessions at the Coastal Futures Conference 2016, which will take place at
the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, SOAS, University of London on the 21st and 22nd January.
With an overall attendance of over 330 delegates and more
than 140 organisations, the conference is the most important event addressing coastal management, planning and sustainability in the UK. The wide range
of subjects, depth of analysis and discussion, together with the leading role of the UK in the fields of marine science and marine planning ensure
that the conference will be one of the most influential forums on this subject globally.

This year’s topics cover marine policy and economics, Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), climate change and fisheries. As in previous years, the increasing
need for assessing and preventing anthropogenic impacts and habitat loss and degradation will be a central topic. This is reflected in many presentations
in the programme, which include current developments in coastal management, the outcomes of the Paris Climate Change Conference, marine biodiversity
and policy, marine planning and the management of MPAs. The need for innovative approaches to provide evidence for regulatory decisions involving the
use of the marine environment is an essential core value of Thomson Unicomarine, and we will follow the conference very closely.

Session 4, on Thursday 22nd will focus on marine planning, and will be chaired by Daniel Bastreri. Presenters are widely recognised as experienced and
leading advocates in their field, and include Mike Elliot (IECS), Jake Rice (IUCN-CEM), Philip Stamp and Dominic Pattinson (Defra), Michael McLeod
(Scottish Government), Pat Fitzsimmons (TEP), Dickon Howell (MMO) and Keith Cooper (Cefas).

Thomson Unicomarine will have a stand at the conference over both days, and we would be very interested toreceive your views and comments on the event.
Please do come along and talk to us!
