Exeter flood defence scheme

As part of our client’s enabling works for a large flood defence scheme, we installed habitat enhancements within a receptor site for reptiles, including a large basking bund, log piles and brash piles as well as strimming selected areas of grass, providing variations in habitat, as well as basking areas.

Elsewhere on the site we cleared 4.5ha of Himalayan balsam, using a combination of hand tools, mechanical flails, and heavy duty mulchers.

We also carried out habitat manipulation works of a 15ha area, undertaken sensitively to displace the reptiles from the area to facilitate the client’s development works.

The site is open to the public, so we installed two information boards which show the client’s plans for the area.
